Grease Taper Bore of Drive Wheel Hub Clamps for Easier Removal

Effective at once, the taper bore of drive wheel hub clamps on Models “A”, “B”, “G”, and “H” Tractors will be greased before they are assembled on to rear wheel hub. This makes it much easier to remove the hub clamps when it is desired to change the position of the rear wheels on the axles.

Models “A”, “B”, “G”, and “H” Tractor instruction books will, with the next printing, be revised to recommend greasing of hub clamps in the field.

Advance Information About a New Model John Deere Tractor

We want to give you advance information about the new Model “HN” Tractor which will be available early in March 1940. It may be this advance information will help you hold a sale — hence, the reason for giving it to you at this time.

The design of the Model “HN” is the same as the Model “H” except that it is equipped with a single front wheel and 6-12 Skid Ring-type rubber tire in place of two front wheels and 4.00x15" tires as used on the “H”.

The Model “HN” Tractor will be very popular among growers of various vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, carrots, onions, beets, sugar beets, etc., as the comparatively small size tires fit into the narrow rows.

The single front wheel on the “HN” takes up less space than the two front wheels on the “H”, the maximum width of the yoke at the top being 11-1/2", at the center of the wheel, 7-5/8", and the 6" tire, while the two front wheels on the “H” have a maximum width at the top of 14-1/2" and at the bottom 10". The turning radius of the “HN” is about the same as the “H”.

VISION. The cultivation of small vegetables grown in narrow rows either on beds or flat, requires the best possible vision from the tractor in order that good work may be done rapidly. Model “HN” Tractors have a decided advantage over competitive small tractors because an unobstructed view is afforded of the two rows on each side of the tractor. The design of some competitive tractors locates the seat so that the rows on the left of the tractor are totally obscured and the steering wheel obstructs the vision badly on the right.

EASY, ACCURATE STEERING is a positive essential because in vegetable cultivation weeding knives or shovels must run close to the row and frequently a variation of an inch in the position of the knives cuts out plants. The steering on the Model “HN” is accurate, easy to work, and steady because it is shock-proof — hence, it is easy to do good work rapidly.

ENGINE SAME AS “H”. The Model “HN” is powered by the same engine as the “H”; hence, the record-breaking fuel economy of the John Deere Model “H” will be found in the new Model “HN”.

EQUIPMENT. Special equipment now available for the “H” (except front wheel weights) will be available for the “HN”.
